Saskia joined Maven as  Coworking Club Member early this Spring.  Saskia initially came across Maven when looking for a branding shoot location and because Saskia loved shooting in our space so much, she decided to join us for a regular weekly coworking session too.  Here she fell in love with the support given for female entrepreneurs in Winchester.  And we are so pleased that she did. Saskia brings sunshiny smiles, great advice and a super supportive nature to our coworking community here in Winchester.

So what does Saskia do?  Saskia is a Career Coach who is genuinely passionate about helping people at a career crossroads.  She’ll help you clarify your thoughts, find direction and embark on more fulfilling career journeys.  Before starting as a career coach, Saskia was a chemical engineer with 10 years experience in the oil industry.  After completing her studies in South Africa, she started her career journey in Switzerland, and then finally moved to England.

After the birth of her second daughter Saskia had 5 year break.  As a result,  Saskia found herself at a career crossroads and confused about her next move.  So she signed up with a Career Coach and embarked on an incredible journey.  The end result was total clarity and confidence to retrain as a career coach, and so in 2020 Saskia stepped out into the world of entrepreneurism and launched Career in Focus.

Saskia has recently written a brilliant blog So, why bother with Career Coaching Anyway?

If you could choose to do anything for the day, what would it be?

I would spend the day on a liveaboard yacht off the coast of a remote tropical island in South East Asia.  Scuba diving and enjoying amazing cuisine served by a private chef.

Who is your entrepreneur crush?

Well, I don’t really have a crush on anyone. But I envy Sir Richard Branson as he owns his own private island. I would also buy an island if I could!

What is your proudest achievement?

Aside from my two lovely daughters, my proudest achievement is moving to Switzerland on my own at the tender age of 23. It was my first proper job in a strange country where I did not know anyone and I couldn’t speak the language. I lived in a remote part of Switzerland where nobody spoke a word of English and I had to do my job in French!

Why did you choose to join Maven’s Coworking Community?

I love the look and feel of the space. It’s so inviting and friendly. I love chatting with the other Mavens. I love being motivated to work and not being distracted by housework and washing. I love the Maven network and feeling supported.

Saskia hangs out and gets her work done at Maven on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning.  To connect with Saskia and experience the support our coworking community in Winchester brings  please drop me an email on natalie@mavencoworking.co.uk
