Video gives a great insight to who YOU actually are.  And YOU are your business, am I right?

In a year where everyone is more engaged than ever before on social media, the popularity of videos has spread faster than Covid-19.  In fact, 80% of people would rather watch live video from a brand, than read a blog (please don’t stop reading!).

So, when deciding upon content for our first ever Maven Masterclass, there was no hesitation.  It simply had to be about creating Video.

Step up, Lottie Stevenson.  An expert Filmmaker and former BBC video journalist based here in Winchester.  What Lottie doesn’t know about creating engaging videos on your mobile, basically isn’t worth knowing!

It was a gloriously sunny September morning in Winchester.  Maven was set up and ready to go.  Our desks were spaced and socially distanced each with their own individual hygiene pack. I was super excited to be finally welcoming our regulars in for some productive learning.  Our regular Mavens started to arrive:  Laura Coleman of Be Modern Meditation, Hazel Anderson-Turner our resident psychologist, Varsha Amin of Lotus X, Jo Erin Yates and myself!  We were just beyond excited to be in a room together, ready to enjoy an ‘in person’ workshop for the first time since the start of 2020.

Lottie’s sunny smile and expert skills delivered a brilliant session, full of insider tips.  We had the opportunity to get practical and enjoy lots of open discussion about the use of video for our businesses.  We covered sooo much, including:

  • Kit – simple and cost effective kit needed to help you create professional videos on your mobile phone
  • Content – Easy Content Ideas to get you started, like shooting a Timelapse or creating a short testimonial
  • Editing – How to shoot and make it easy for yourself when it comes to editing and how to use InShot
  • Creation – Shooting different types of scenes to ensure a well balanced promotional video

To keep us fuelled throughout the day, Open House Deli hand delivered a great spread of salads brimming with super foods.  We had a choice of Roast potato with broccoli, spring onions, pumpkins seeds and chipotle or Kale with cauliflower, courgette, chick pea chilli and garlic tahini, served with dips and fritters and some gluten free, vegan cakes for dessert too!

It truly was a brilliant session that resulted in us all feeling empowered and motivated to start recording video for our businesses.  We’ll be running this session again for sure in the New Year, so watch this space.
