Liane just makes me smile…she’s the founder of Layloo, a beautifully colourful, joyful and creative graphic design business.   Liane is super passionate about creating thoughtful designs that reflect you and your business.  This week Liane has enjoyed her first day coworking here at Maven, so let’s find out a little more about her!

Tell me about a woman who inspires you…

When I first started looking into setting up my business I found great inspiration from Sarah Akwisombe who runs No Bull Business School – her positivity and drive was really motivational. I also loved Annie Ridout’s book The Freelance Mum, which gave me so many great tips for starting my business.

When did you decide to pursue your business?

I was made redundant whilst on maternity leave so having two children to care for and the need for flexibility meant setting up my own business was the best way forward. It was something I had always wanted to do so it seemed the perfect time.

What drives you creatively?

I’m passionate about helping people solve challenges they face – I’m a good listener and love it when I can come up with a solution that will make someone happy or that will improve their lives somehow. That’s why I love my job, as it’s based around problem-solving – creating visual solutions that will help people communicate their business or product. And I appreciate beauty in everything – nature, architecture, fashion, art and in words too (I love books) so graphic design is the perfect combination – I get a real kick out of creating something that communicates AND looks great!

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I think dusting myself off from redundancy and having a great first year in business was a real confidence boost. Helping my clients get great results and feedback are all lovely accomplishments which make me feel proud.

If you could have only one view out of your window, for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would have to be a little seaside clifftop village – beautiful houses piled on a hill, changing colour throughout the day set against the deep blue of the sea. Would Positano be too much to ask? Lol.

What are you looking forward to most about Maven?

I’m looking forward to meeting others who are ambitious about their business, and getting away from my desk at home! Being a solo business owner can be lonely and I really miss the buzz of the office! I like to have a good laugh – it shouldn’t be all work and no play!

Coffee or Tea?

Ooh – I’m a fan of both! But no sugar in either, I’m sweet enough 😉

It’s been great working with you this week Liane and we look forward to many more co-working sessions together.  Was super special to see Liane collaborate here too with another Maven Member – Jo Erin Yates (you’ll find out more about Jo next week).  And no Positano is not too much to ask 🙂  Maven Positano has a nice ring to it!

Connections, collaborations and coworking for female entrepreneurs, all under one roof here at Maven Winchester 🙂
